Chandigarh, March 19– Haryana Transport Minister Mr. Mool Chand Sharma said that due to the hard work of the officers and employees of the department, Haryana Roadways has got a unique identity and people prefer to travel on the buses of Haryana Roadways.
The Minister said this while interacting with the media after flagging off 2 Volvo buses of Mercedes-Benz from the interstate bus terminal at Sector-17 Chandigarh today. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Volvo buses are highly preferred in Haryana. Today 18 buses, including 12 Mercedes-Benz and 6 Volvo buses have been included in the fleet of State transport. He informed that out of these buses, one bus will run on the route from Chandigarh to Ballabhgarh while the other will ply on Chandigarh to Delhi route. He said that being an industrial city, Volvo will be run from Faridabad to Ballabhgarh.
After flagging off the buses, the Minister congratulated the officers and employees present on the occasion and said that the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has given the responsibility of the Transport Department to him and he always considers the department as his own family, therefore the employees should stay away from any kind of false propaganda and he will also ensure that the interests of the department, its officers and employees are kept on priority.
The Transport Minister said that the State Government will not back down from a single commitment made to the employee unions. The more buses they demand, the more buses will be included in the fleet. He said that the government has recruited about 5200 employees in the department. Similarly, today 18 buses have been added to the State transport fleet, of which 12 will be run from Chandigarh while 6 buses will be run from Gurugram. Apart from this, 867 general buses, 20 Volvo buses, 150 minibusses, and 150 CNG buses will also be added to the fleet soon.
MLA from NIT Faridabad, Mr. Neeraj Sharma who was also present on the occasion thanked the Transport Minister and said that by starting Volvo service to Ballabhgarh will certainly prove beneficial from the commuters coming to Faridabad, Ballabgarh, and Palwal to Chandigarh. Director, Transport Department, Mr. Virendra Dahiya thanked Transport Minister.
On this occasion, many senior officials and employees of the department were present, including General Manager, Chandigarh Depot Mr. Amarendra Singh.
