Chandigarh, May 07: Haryana Police have arrested a person on the charges of black-marketing oxygen cylinders from Faridabad district and recovered 50 oxygen cylinders from his possession.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that with the court orders, the seized oxygen cylinders have been handed over to district administration for temporary use. This will help authorities in saving hundreds of lives in this pandemic.
He said that a police team had got secret information about oxygen black-marketing by a person, who has a large quantity of oxygen cylinders. Based on the input, police alongwith Drug Control Officer conducted a raid at the said location. During checking, 42 cylinders were recovered from his Tata 407 vehicle while 8 cylinders were found from his house. When asked, the accused failed to produce any license and required permits for these oxygen cylinders. Police arrested him and seized all 50 cylinders.
The arrested accused was identified as Bijendra. During interrogation, he revealed that earlier he used to supply these cylinders in a private company. But during the Corona period, he started supplying these cylinders in private hospitals. He procured these cylinders from various agencies in Faridabad and supplied them. When he supplied oxygen cylinders to hospitals, he used to take out some gas from cylinders and sell it to the needy people at expensive prices.
A case was registered against him and further investigation is underway.
