Chandigarh: The second edition of Innovative Farmers’ Meet 2019 is being organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Mehram Publication from 28th May to 28th June 2019 at various locations in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh.
The sixth meet of this series was successfully organized at Virk Resorts, Karnal Haryana. Addressing the progressive farmers, Chief Guest Shri Harvinder Kalyan, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Gharonda (Karnal), felicitated the farmers and elaborated on the importance of crop diversification, cooperative farming and direct marketing. He called upon the farming community of the state to adopt direct marketing of their products to increase their income. He also suggested the importance of marketing and branding of the produce
“Farmers need to focus on establishing direct connect with the world market to sell their produce rather than depending on middlemen or other agencies. Farmers can come together to brand and sell their produce at their own or village level,” he added.
The meet was addressed by many renowned speakers from Government, Haryana Horticulture Department & Industry along with prominent award winning farmers.
Mr Abhimanyu Malik, District Development Manager, NABARD, focussed on the importance of finance in agriculture. He also shared the various schemes under which the farmers can get loans/ assistance from NABARD. Mr Gagan Kumar, Regional Manager – Regional Business Office, State Bank of Indiaalso shared the various finance and loaning schemes of State Bank of India.
Mr Amit Joshi, Senior Manager, PI industries shared that to address the problem of water scarcity, DSR is a good initiative. He also shared about his company products which are contributing to sustainable agriculture.
The distinguished progressive farmers were felicitated at the Innovative Farmers’ Meet. The meet was attended by more than 600 farmers and more than 15 companies like Swaraj, Mahindra, PI Industries, yara Fertilizers, UPL Ltd etc participated in day long exhibition which was organized concurrently
