‘Art Bazaar’ concludes at VR Punjab

Chandigarh/ Mohali/ April 21, 2019: ‘Art Bazaar’ has concluded at VR Punjab here. ‘Art Bazaar’ was a unique amalgamation of entrepreneurs from across the region who showcased their talent & creativity in the fields of usable art – apparels , shoes & bags , semi-precious jewellery, home & garden accessories , stationery & more . It was a part of the ongoing month long Punjab Art Initiative(PAI) 2019, at VR Punjab here. Art Bazaar was  an initiative  of VR Punjab in association with The Vanity Box.

As many as 25 artistic products had been showcased at the expansive 2 -day art exhibition . 

“Art Bazaar  showcased art , craft & creativity through different products on display . The exhibition was a melting pot of creative endeavors of varied artists, fashion designers and creators of handicrafts.  The exhibition also promoted the idea and importance of using naturally and organically made products to protect our environment,” Said Priya Jagat, Curator of ART BAZAAR & Owner, The Vanity Box

‘Art Bazaar’ also popularized craftswomen and brought into limelight art which was dying or fading away.  In keeping with this motive ‘Sab Tera’ foundation had put up a stall. The foundation empowers women from underprivileged communities living in villages near Chandigarh. It is working towards reviving dying art forms with a hope of rebuilding a community of craftswomen, who can pass these skills to their future generations; thus, keeping the craft alive.

The collections like glass paintings, artistic stationery, quirky accessories for kids, vibrant clothing and household goods which are handcrafted meticulously, were a treat for the entire family.

There were some very unique collections on offer. ‘Simply Glassic’ – Delhi had brought glass painting on trays & other home accessories. ‘Nayab Al – House of Precious Art’ was here with traditional Indian art of inlay work in marble – they had decorative plates, candle-stands, lamps , bowls & more. ‘The Bloomery’ had a variety of fresh oriental & Asiatic lilies. ‘Crafty treat’ had Hand-made decoupage – which is the art of decorating objects with paper cut-outs & hand painted home accessories. ‘Karigari’, Chandigarh had summer pastels in Chikankari. For kids  Scoo Boo had quirky & fun stationery & other quick pick-ups. ‘Bunk Pages’, Delhi had brought Art on notebooks & dairies. ‘Art & Decor by Creative Spaces’ had art inspired planters , home & garden accessories.   ‘Aditi’s Creation’  had fiberglass planters ideal for gardens, indoors , terraces , balconies. There were a host of summer designer wear too laid out.  ‘Designed by Saumya’s’, Chandigarh   a handcrafted jewellery label with offbeat silver and gold pieces also displayed collections.

 It is noteworthy that VR Punjab hosts Punjab Art Initiative as part of its local Connecting Communities initiative, a project that aims to encourage civic pride, strengthen the local economy and enhance Punjab’s image. This initiative has turned VR Punjab into a hub of artistic activity. An ensemble of installations, curated through partnerships with leading institutions and eminent artists are also on display.
