Celebration of Wildlife Week-2020 – Prize Distribution Ceremony held regarding Short Film Competition on ‘Wildlife Conservation’

Chandigarh, 16th October, 2020: Wildlife Week is observed during the first week of October all over the country, with the objective of raising awareness among masses for the conservation of wildlife and its habitat. The Department of Forests & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh is organizing various programs during the week to sensitize and generate awareness among the masses for the Protection and Conservation of Wildlife, Nature, and Natural resources.

In this regard, the Department of Forests & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh on 16th October, 2020 has organized a Prize Distribution Ceremony regarding Best Short Film on ‘Wildlife Conservation’ submitted by the students of different eco-club schools of UT Chandigarh. The aim is to trigger the thought process of Wildlife Conservation among young minds & to sensitize them toward wildlife heritage and conservation as well. Shri Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest & Chief Wildlife Warden, UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest during the occasion.

During the occasion, the shortlisted winners of various school students were felicitated with prize and mementos by the Chief Guest. The details of shortlisted school students were given below:-

Further, the Department of Forest & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh also felicitated the Wildlife Squad of the department for performing their duties 24×7 diligently towards rescuing and releasing of wildlife in distress to the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary, UT Chandigarh.

Among prominent persons attending the function were Dr.Abdul Qayum, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests, UT Chandigarh, and the Eco-Club teachers of schools in UT Chandigarh.
