Chandigarh Administration Celebrated the 71st Republic Day

Chandigarh/ 26 January, 2020: The Chandigarh Administration celebrated the 71st Republic Day in the Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh with full enthusiasm and thrill. The Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the various contingents of Police, NCC, NSS Cadets participating in the Republic Day Parade. In the public address, he paid his gratitude to the residents of the city for being participative and supportive. He also congratulated all the officials of the Chandigarh Administration for their hard work and dedication.

The Chief Guest also gave commendation certificates to employees of the Chandigarh Administration and distinguished individuals for rendering outstanding services in the field of Public services, Art and Culture, Social Services and Sports. Police personnel were also conferred with Police Medal for meritorious services

The Chandigarh Police received the overall best turn award in the parade whereas in the category of Military forces/ Police contingent the first prize was bagged by Chandigarh Ladies Police (RTC) & Haryana Police-II, the second position was bagged by Punjab Police-I and Punjab Police II came third.

In the category of Home Guard/ Fire Brigade/ Civil defense, the first prize was bagged by Chandigarh Home Guard, the second position was bagged by Chandigarh Fire Services/Brigade and Civil Defence came third.

In NCC contingents, Air Wing bagged the first position, NCC Army Wing ( Boys)  came second and NCC Naval Wing  (Boys) came third.

In another category of Bands; Institute for Blind, Sector 26 got the first position; Sacred Heart Sr. Sec School, Sector 26 got second position and Moti Ram Arya Sr. Model School, Sector- 27A got the third position.

In the category of NSS Girls/ NSS Boys/ School Children, NSS boys of Shri. Guru Harikrishna Sr. Secondary School, Sector 40 got the first position, NSS Boys of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, got the second position and NSS Boys of GMSSS Sector 38 West got the third position.

In the category of tableaux, the Model jail got the first position, the Education department got the second position and the Forest Department got third prize.

The performances by the students added a dash of culture in the surroundings filled with patriotism. The crowd enjoyed every bit of the event featuring spectacular parades, stunning tableaus, and jaw-dropping performances.
