Chandigarh, October 08: In view of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Election Commission of India has issued revised guidelines for inviting Star campaigners to conduct the Bihar Assembly Elections and by-elections in Baroda and other states of Haryana in an independent, fair, peaceful, transparent, and safe manner. The new guidelines issued, shall be deemed to have come into force with immediate effect.
Giving information in this regard, a spokesman of the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana said that as per revised guidelines, the maximum limit of the number of star campaigners for recognized National and State political parties shall be 30 in place of 40 and for unrecognized registered political parties shall be 15 in place of 20 during the period of the pandemic.
The spokesman said that the period of submission of the list of star campaigners is extended from 7 days to 10 days from the date of notification.
If a political party has already submitted the list of star campaigners, they can now resubmit the revised list within the stipulated time period.
He said that applications seeking permission for publicity should be submitted to the District Election Authorities at least 48 hours before the start of the campaign, so that necessary security measures can be implemented in time by the concerned stakeholders.
