Chandigarh, December 2 – Haryana has secured 7th position in the NITI Aayog’s Composite Water Management Index of 2017-18 whereas in the year 2015-16 and 2016-17 in terms of water management, the State was at 16th position. While this year the State has also bagged the first position among all the States in the country in terms of maximum progress.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that NITI Aayog had developed the Composite Water Management Index to emphasize the need for efficient management of water and equitable distribution of irrigation water.
He said that as per the report released by the Ayog, Haryana was ranked 16th position in the year 2015-16 and 2016-17 in terms of water management, which has improved to 7th place in the year 2017-18. Haryana has now achieved record growth with 26.21 points while the Goa State has bagged second-place with 14.44 points in the Index.
