L V Prasad Eye Institute’s My Cyclothon to Raise Awareness on My Opia in Children – Award Ceremony

Odisha/ Bhubaneswar, January 19, 2020: — The Mega Event was Flagged-off on 19th January 2020 at Kalinga Stadium, My Cyclothon – ‘Better health, Award Ceremony.
More than 450 people have participated in the Campaign.The cycling for a cause event was flagged off on 19th January 2020 by Former Indian Hockey
Captain Padmashree DilipTirkey from Kalinga Stadium in My Cyclothon Brand Ambassador and cycling enthusiast Actor Politician Sidhant Mohapatra,initiated the first ride of the day along with the other professionals. The Standard Timed category cyclists were flagged off by Arjuna Awardee Mrs. Minati Mohapatra and Fun category cyclists were flagged off by Mr. Arabindo Sahoo, representative of MCL.
More than 450 people including professionals have participated in this mega campaign.
better sight’, is an initiative by L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) raise awareness about Myopia (short-sightedness near-sightedness) and to raise funds for providing free spectacles to underprivileged children and help to make a difference among 10,000 lives.The event was followed by an Award Ceremony which was graced by Dr. Sudhansu Sarangi,Commissioner of Police Bhubaneswar. K R Vasudevan, Director Finance, MCL and B Sairam, GM, CSR, MCL were also present at the occasion. Also, Ollywood actress Archita Sahu added charm to the occasion with her participation and support. Dr. Suryasnata Rath, Director LVPEI, at Mithu Tulsi Chanrai Campus, Patia has introduced the cause and motive behind the Idea of My Cyclothon. He also felicitated all the Chief Guests with a memento.
LVPEI has expressed gratitude to the Esteemed Sponsors like Indian Oil Corporation,  If not corrected in time, it can hamper the quality of life of these children.
Through My Cyclothon, we want to raise awareness about this alarming eye health problem in children. Also, the funds raised will help in providing free spectacles to underprivileged children who are in need of them. We pledge to touch 10,000 lives. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, Radha Raman Hospital, Vision Care and Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd. on this occasion for their extreme support to make MyCyclothon a grand success. Community outreach and advocacy are two of the integral functional areas of LVPEI. ‘Myopia is becoming more common across the world and 5 out of 10 individuals are likely to have myopia by the year 2050. In India, the number of kids to have myopia is gradually ncreasing.We are even doing extensive research in this area and going forward LVPEI will have a dedicated clinic which will focus on management and treatment of myopia in children.
