Chandigarh: NABARD, Haryana Regional Office, Chandigarh celebrated its 39th Foundation Day today on 15th July 2020. The program was presided over by Sh. Rajiv Mahajan, Chief General Manager, Haryana RO. On this occasion, an e-Chaupal was organized with various beneficiaries and stakeholders of NABARD assisted programs and its district-level functionaries. Sh. Mahajan, while addressing the participants, spoke about various schemes and developmental programs conducted by NABARD for the last 38 years of its existence. He expressed that, NABARD, had started its journey way back in 1982 as a refinancing agency, has, since diversified in the field of infrastructure, watershed, climate change, tribal development, financial inclusion, financial literacy, etc. and has achieved various miles-tones, touching every aspect of agriculture and rural development. As an apex development financial institution it has been motivating even the foreign delegates visiting NABARD, thus encouraging them in replicating its successful interventions in their countries. He eulogized the role being played by its stake-holders and exhorted for working more progressively for the development of rural areas.
After this, a brainstorming experience-sharing session was held with the representatives of Farm as well as off-farm Producer organizations working in Haryana with NABARD’s support. The CEOs of Nilokheri FPO- Karnal, Alterna Organic FPO- Sonepat and Sujini & Jaipuri Razai OFPO- Palwal shared their initiatives, challenges, solutions, and expectations. After this the nodal officer of ‘Krishak Samridhi’ pilot project implemented by NABARD in Hisar district. informed that the target prescribed three years back for augmenting the income of farmers up to 60% through this project, has already been over-achieved. The NGO from Sirsa district shared the details regarding the remarkable enhancement in employment and income through livelihood and enterprise development (LEDP) program of NABARD.
Finally, the CEO of Agri-Business Incubation Centre, operating in Chaudhary Charan Singh Agriculture University-Hisar and supported by NABARD, lauded the overall support and guidance given by NABARD, Haryana and two start-ups, one on Solid Waste Management and another on Bio-fertilizer
production shared their success stories which inspired the participants. In the end, the beneficiaries of different interventions of NABARD shared their experiences which will help in further upscaling and replication of the schemes being implemented by NABARD for start-ups in Agriculture and allied activities.
