Chandigarh.09.09.2021: POSHAN MAAH is being celebrated in Chandigarh as part of Jan Andolanor mass movement. Focusing on nutrition in a big way, POSHAN Abhiyaan was launched on 8th March, 2018 under the Ministry of Women & Child Development. Now, on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the POSHAN Abhiyaan, various impactful events are being organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, U.T.
To mobilise the community, different activities have been performed by Anganwadi Workers at all the Anganwadi Centres such as a lecture on breastfeeding, lecture on health and hygiene, awareness on COVID-19 vaccination, height and weight measurement drive for children, importance of AYUSH to prevent anaemia, growth monitoring, mother meeting, counselling for parents of children with low birth weight and awareness about Adhaar.
Along with this, some other activities have also been taken up like spreading awareness about benefits of yoga during teen age, importance of including seasonal fruits in your dietand awareness on complete immunisation,
Home visits to Nursing Mothershave also been organised, In addition to that, a virtual lecture on importance and benefits of personal hygiene (Through whatsapp groups of AnganwadiCenters) was also imparted.
A Camp on Yoga, YOGA FOR TEENS, was organised with the aim of explaining the procedure of doing Yoga, its benefits, precautions, etc. at Dadumajra and Composite Anganwadi Building, Sector 45. A lecture by Medical Officer was also organized to impart knowledge on the importance of AYUSH for anaemia during pregnancy.
