Patna/ Bihar: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today sought a report from Army Chief Dalbir Singh on an Army recruitment rally in Bihar, in which candidates were allegedly asked to appear for their exams in their underwear.
Taking exception to the published media reports, Mr Parrikar directed the Army Chief to provide details of the incident. The exam was conducted in Muzaffarpur where over a thousand candidates took their exams sitting cross-legged on an open ground. The pictures of the incident also appeared prominently in several newspapers. They were ordered to do so to ensure there was no cheating. The young recruits were asked to remove their clothes to save frisking time.
Mr Parrikar was also mulling a proposal to computerise the recruitment examination to make it more transparent and fair.
