The First Phase of Census-2021 in Haryana from May 01 to June 15, 2020

Chandigarh, Dec 4 – The first phase of Census-2021 which is house listing operations and Housing Census has been notified for conduct in Haryana from May 1, 2020, to June 15, 2020.

            While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Directorate of Census Operations said that Haryana Directorate of Census Operations, participated in the International ‘Gita Jayanti Mahotsav’ at Kurukshetra and made people aware about Census-2021.

            He said that Census-2021, which is the sixteenth Census since independence will be a Digital Census. For the first time in the 150 year history of the census in India, data will be collected through a specially designed mobile app and enumerators would be encouraged to use their mobile phones for collecting information.

          He said that with the use of technology, census data would be processed faster enabling timely release and use of data. The census is the largest single source of a variety of statistical information on different characteristics of people, which greatly helps in the formulation of plans for the social-economic development of the country. The Census data also caters to the constitutional requirement of delimitation of constituencies, reservation of seats for SCs and STs, planning and provision of funds for development.

          He said that the Census stall displayed various Census publications viz. Administrative Atlas, Tables on Houses, Household Amenities and assets and Primary Census Abstract 2011.

          He said that the visitors were made aware of phases of the Census exercise and the questions which are to be canvassed during the Census exercise. People were exhorted to participate and co-operate in this huge administrative exercise and contribute towards nation building by providing complete and accurate information.

             The Census stall attracted a large number of people who showed a keen interest in the various data being collected.   The villagers were interested in knowing the data related to their village and students showed their interest in preparing various types of maps through the ‘CENSUS INFO’ software.   He said that the people were also explained the procedure regarding obtaining published data through the census website
