Chandigarh – On the World Day Against Child Labour on 12 june 2019, under the Child Friendly City Initiate, Don Bosco Navjeevan Society in collaboration with Chandigarh Vayopar Mandal ,Labour department, , Child Line (1098), Anti Human Trafficking unit , NINE is Mine, Manav Vikas Samiti organized a drive to get the pledge card signed by the market vendors of Sector 24, promising not to employ any child below the age of 18 in their shops. The theme of the day was “CHILDREN SHOULDN’T WORK IN FIELDS, BUT ON DREAMS!”. Children of Don Bosco Navjeevan Society from Faida and 52 slums took up this initiative to get the pledge card signed by the vendors.
Mrs. Sunita Dhawan ,Councillor of ward no. 04 ,Anil Kumar Vohra Prisent of Chandigarh Vyopar Mandal, Mr. Ravinder Singh, Chairman Chandigarh Labour department, Sector 24, Shiv Charan Singh Sector 24 Chowki Incharge and Mr. Aneesh ,Prsident of rotary club shivalik and Fr. Reji Tom ,Director Don Bosco Navjeevan Society were the dignitaries present for the occasion. We started our Drive at 10:00 AM . In this drive 100 shop owners signed the pledge and took the oath not to employ children in their shops.
